She is definitely there to be behind-the-scenes and be supportive. When you zoom in and blow up on her grip on her arm notice the tension and tightness of the grip. See how stretched out and arched her fingers are and how pressed down they are.
He is reaching slightly back towards her with his outside arm. But there's a reason she's gripping so tightly. He's not giving her the attention she wants in this moment. Look at the tension in her smile. She feels the need to hold on tightly.
