Trump & Putin's Body Language During Their Presser Said A Lot More Than Their Words

But, the devil is in the details. Refinery29 spoke with Patti Wood, a body language expert and author of Snap: Making the Most of First Impressions, Body Language, and Charisma, to decode four major moments of Trump and Putin's encounter.
First off, the pre-meeting appearance the leaders did before the press. In a clip, Trump can be seen winking at Putin...Continue Reading

Putin's Handshake With Trump Vs. Obama Says So Much, Body Language Experts Say

On Monday, July 16, President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in a private one-on-one meeting in Helsinki, Finland. While the world closely watched the whole affair, particularly the jaw-dropping press conference that followed, the subtleties of the leaders' interactions offered key insights into their dynamic, especially in comparison with Putin's dynamic with President Barack Obama. According to body language experts, Putin's handshake with Trump compared with Obama is incredibly revealing.

What Mueller Knows About the DNC Hack—And Trump Doesn’t

In Helsinki on Monday, President Donald Trump stood feet away from Russian President Vladimir Putin and fielded a simple question from an AP reporter: Whose account of the 2016 election does he believe—that of Putin, who claims Russia did not interfere in the U.S. presidential election, or every major U.S. intelligence agency, which have unanimously concluded that it did?
In response, the president brought up a well-rehearsed conspiracy theory implying...Continue Reading

Privacy Pods - Hysterical, Troubling and Sad All At The Same Time

My clients are reporting to me that their employees have an increased anxiety about engaging in face to face interactions that are dramatically affecting their ability to do their job. They are fearful of going down the hallway to talk face to face with their colleges and networking or calling on prospects and clients or speaking out in meetings. It is freaking my business owner and my C-Suite clients out!!!

This odd pod is the physical manifestation of how people feel. It's to scary to engage so I will get inside a physical bubble so to protect myself. Several factors are contributing to this social anxiety, increased population and interactions with strangers, technology that reduces neural pathways to the social centers of the brain and not growing up with enough face to face interaction practice and getting coaching and feedback on nonverbal interactions like turn taking, that we normally get from adult child interactions like talking at the family dinner table.

It Sure Looks Like Trump Is Lying About His Agreement With Kim Jong Un

Nonverbal communication is very powerful and as I say in my book SNAP, Making the Most of First Impressions Body Language and Charisma, first impressions can affect your entire feeling about a person or an event.

Last week I read the body language of trump and Kim at the summit that trump claims led to a denuclearization agreement. Even several of the eight journalist I worked with across the world on the story thought that Trump won a concession due to his confident smiling body language prior to off-camera Meeting.

Again in the handshake prior to the meeting and sitting at the conference table at beginning of the meeting that he was confident and cocky and winner.

The problem is he didn’t get a real concession in the agreement as you can read below. Many people I have talked to including since that event think he won.

When we are presented with mismatches between nonverbal communication and a verbal message our brain tends to rely on the nonverbal message to indicate the truth. Once we form a first impression it is very difficult for us to change it. But we do have the written agreement. Remember this is about nuclear war. It’s important that we all take the time to read the actual agreement.
