I was recently sent a question.
"Patti, over the past few weeks I've been doing research on body language. I just have a quick question that I haven't been able to figure out an answer to;Although, I'm not sure if you're the right person to ask or not I figured it couldn't hurt to try. Can someone say something that they believe 100% but their body language will say they don't or that they aren't telling the truth?
That is not a question that can be answered simply. Believing something to be true with the conscious mind is different that feeling or sensing something is true with the more primitive brain. The neo cortex can rationally think I trust this person, but the primal brain can read cues the neo cortex can't and no the person cannot be trusted. So the person can say, "I trust this guy." Using words that are formulated in the rational brain and yet give off nonverbal cues controlled by the primal brain that may indicate a lack of trust.
You can also begin to "believe your own lies" after telling a story so many times and so no longer give off the normal cues of deception that are given off when someone feels guilty or nervous about being discovered.

Body Language Read of Michelle McGee, the woman at the centre of the Sandra Bullock and Jesse James marriage bust-up, speaks exclusively about her part in the affair that rocked Hollywood
At first question,
“Why did you decide to break the silence.” Her head pulled back and away sideways. In a very strong defensive movement. She also eye blocked and she answered the question with by repeating back the question. The first two cues could be fear or nervousness but in combination with the repeat indicate that he answer is NOT the reason she chose to break the silence.
She answered the next question with a question reword.
“The biggest misconception …is (long list) on the word racist she did an eye block closing her eyes a few seconds too long and pulled her head back slightly and on the “Not True” she gave a micro facial cue and scrunched up the left more honest side of her face in a sneer, that showed her lack of belief in her statement. In other words she has some resistance to saying she is not a racist. Also the first two answers where rehearsed and said without natural rhythm and inflection so if they were true statements they didn’t sound that way>
Questions. “Start at the beginning.” She did what I call a tongue cleanse showing the beginning was distasteful or she was about to fabricate and answer. She followed her statement with several eye blinks with makes me believe she withheld some information.
As she talks about My Space watch her mouth she is again leaving out “distasteful” information
“He asked me to come hang out at West Coast Choppers
Her tongue darts out of her mouth and then she closes her eyes. “ This combination again makes me suspect there were sexual conversation between them even before she met him.

Answers to the deception quiz for the particapants in my Credibity and Deception Detection Program.
Answer Two answers c. Overall Liars have longer pauses, shorter answers and longer times between a question and a response than someone who is merely nervous. but the other answer is D. It depends on their personality type.

2. Answer c. Your body language needs to match what you’re saying.
3. Answer c. Keep your palms open. Rehearsed liars tend to keep their hands, especially the palms, hidden and still. Loosely at your sides is all right.
4. Answer a. This is tricky. Leaning toward the interviewer makes you appear open and interested. Liars tend to close entrances to the body to hide the truth. With the exception of the liars lean.
5. Answer c. Be careful of pursing or licking your lips. A smile is the most common facial expression used to mask emotions.
