Based on these recent photo shoot snaps, body language experts explain that Robert Pattinson is head over heels for Kristen Stewart - and that she doesn't reciprocate his feelings as strongly!
Is Robert Pattinson more passionate about Kristen Stewart than she is about him? Not only has Kristen never confessed that she and Rob are actually together (he has!) but now, after studying shots of the Eclipse crew's recent photos shoot, body language experts say, "Rob, Kristen's just not as into you!"
Patti Wood body language expert agrees that Rob, 24, is more obvious about his feelings toward Kristen, 21, than she is to him.
"Rob has the hand in the pocket with the thumb out, that is a sexual position in men -the thumb goes towards the genital area. It says, ‘I am a man and want to be recognized for my dominate sexuality. I'm the alpha - this one's mine," Patti Wood explains to us. "He is doing a slight lean toward her but there is still a lot of space. Kristen is closed and neutral."
Fortunately, Rob's affections aren't totally one-sided. Although she's more subtle, Kristen's body language still shows she's very much into her leading man.

"They are like a unit," Dr. Glass says. "They gravitate towards each other - he engulfs her hands and he absolutely beyond adores her. Completely adores and is taken by her."
What about that other guy in the photos? Taylor Lautner, 18, and Kristen were once self-proclaimed besties - but judging from these pictures, he feels like a third wheel.
"[Rob and Kristen] are more of a unit, while Taylor stands back,"
Adds Wood, "[Taylor] is not as comfortable. His chest is pulling out so it makes him seem outside of them."
Aww...poor Taylor! It must be hard to constantly be the odd man out. Third wheel syndrome sucks!

During A Meeting Or Media Interview, What Are Some Common Body Language Signs Of Discomfort Or Nervousness?
Closing off your body windows, self comfort cues, getting small.
What kind of body language exudes confidence and approachability in an interview or meeting? Prepare. Find out if you are going to be standing or sitting and if you’re sitting whether you will be on a stool, chair or sofa. Ideally you want your body to be relaxed and open. You want to show your confidence by taking up space, leaning backwards and forwards as the interview or meeting goes on rather than freezing or planting in one fixed pose.

Julia Roberts On Aging

When it comes to Botox, Julia Roberts says the answer is "no."
And she's not much of a fan of cosmetic surgery either.
The 42-year-old actress told Elle magazine she thinks it's unfortunate that "we live in such a panicked, dysmorphic society where women don't even give themselves a chance to see what they'll look like as older persons."
That outlook seems to be a rare commodity in Hollywood. Actors over 40 who have had no work done are very rare, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Do More Attractive CEOs Make the Company More Successful?
Here is the study.
Lasting Impression: Does The Face Of A CEO Determine A Successful Company?
Science Daily (Jan. 14, 2008) — It certainly takes more than a pretty face to run a leading national corporation. But according to a recent Tufts University study, the performance levels of America’s top companies could be related to the first impressions made by their chief executive officers (CEOs).

Using photographs of the highest and lowest ranked Fortune 1000 companies’ CEOs, psychologists Nicholas Rule and Nalini Ambady quizzed ordinary college students to determine which of the pictured faces were characteristic of a leader.
Without knowledge of the pictured individuals’ job titles, and by rating the faces on competence, dominance, likeability, facial maturity and trustworthiness, the students were able to distinguish between the successful and the not-so-successful CEOs.
Despite the ambiguity of the images, which were cropped to the face, put into grayscale and standardized in size, ratings of power and leadership related traits from CEOs’ faces were significantly related to company profits.
"These findings suggest that naive judgments may provide more accurate assessments of individuals than well-informed judgments can," wrote the authors. “Our results are particularly striking given the uniformity of the CEOs’ appearances.” The majority of CEOs, who were selected according to their Fortune 1000 ranking, were Caucasian males of similar age.
The study, which appears in the February 2008 issue of Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science, reveals a strong connection between appearances and success as it leaves behind an intriguing question: which came first, the powerful-looking CEO or their successful career?

Body Language Tips Learned At Presentation
Many participants from my 20 minute after lunch presentation yesterday to the Atlanta Women's Network have been emailing me telling me what they have noticed since the program.
Here are some of the learning points people have gotten from the presentation.
Pay attention to your gut impressions and take action on what your read tells you. Handshakes create rapport. Put out your hand at a slight angle and shake hands making palm to palm contact. Seat people in a way to create the result your want and remember that men feel comfortable and at ease speaking positioned side by side. Notice peoples' feet. Use your smile to show your happy and your words to say when your not.
Here is a sample of the feedback.
I wanted to write to tell you how much I enjoyed your talk yesterday. The topic is always interesting, and you brought out some points that I never realized previously. Wow was I lucky to be seated at your table! Thank you for your tip of placing, "tongue-to-roof-of-mouth," for the occasions where I wish to utter, right ... right ... right... ;-) This tip could be a job saver...!

How to Master Deception Detection.....Begin By Being Observant.
How wonderful to hear from you before the program. To prepare for the program and to begin to understand and read peoples body language on a deeper level and become a body language master, may I suggest you begin by paying extra attention to how people respond to simple everyday little questions such as, "How are you?" "How is your day going?" Watch and listen for peoples' very first response, even before they actually get the words out. What are their facial expressions? Do they move toward or away from you? Then, as they begin speaking notice what their face and body does as they answer your questions. Watch what they do in the silence as they finish responding. And here is a strange suggestion, notice peoples' feet. Specifically, notice the way peoples' feet point when they are engaged in a conversation with you and where your feet point.
I just got an email from a body language/first impression coaching client. Goodness, how wonderful it is to have the opportunity to see a coaching client's' hard work make them feel more confident.
Hi, Patti
What an incredible coaching session it was! You are truly absolutely amazing! You are the best coach ever! I could feel the boost in my confidence level immediately after your wonderful instruction and I have already gained much more confidence and felt more comfortable in all kinds of social events already. What Body Language & Vocal Cues Do You Notice In These Real Interrogations For A Murder Investigation?
Here is the story as emailed to me by a group that is investigating the murder.
Patti – I’ve been seeing and reading about you for some time. I’ve been writing on an unsolved DC murder from 2006. No one has been charged with the crime, but three men were just acquitted on charges of cover up and obstruction in a closely-watched trial. We have finally obtained and began posting the police interrogations of the three men from the night of the crime. http://wp.me/pVtne-3SY
In your line of work, is body language reliable in such high pressure and unnatural environments like a police interrogation room? My answer is that stress actually increases the amount of cues given by a suspect. For background and informational purposes, based on your experience, can anything useful be gleaned from such a late night and confrontational interview? Confrontation is not always the best way of conducting an interview. In my workshops I discuss different questioning techniques and their benefits.
There are those who still believe the three defendants are involved in the murder of their friend. Thank you.
PS: For information on our site and citizen investigative efforts over the last 20 months, this recent Washington Post story is a good start:

A Serious Romance
What Does Pointing Your Finger at Someone Mean? Can Someone Point Their Finger and Lie?
QUESTION -What does finger pointing mean –
It’s a really potent gesture of power, a symbolic weapon. When you make a fist and thrust your finger you’re symbolically shooting someone.
If I say, "take this and put it over there," it means something different than take this and put it over there or take this and put it over there. Threes an implied threat. I’ll kill you if you don’t move that.
QUESTION-When you see someone pointing their finger does it mean they are lying. Absolutely not, the average Joe would never do that. In fact, when I teach law enforcement I say it can be a sign someone’s telling the truth because they are passionately defending themselves. (It is very hard for the average person to lie and point their finger in sync with what they are saying.)
But certain ego types do use it. I see it used by powerful men who are use to getting their way and lied successfully in the past. They use it when they are cornered to defend themselves by counter attack. A different version is used by speakers to show conviction of thought. It’s typically not women as there is a sexual component as well.
QUESTION What about Rafael Palmeiro in front of congress in March 2005
Detecting deception in a scripted speech is tricky because you loose the critical spontaneity, but I think he is lying because his timing is off. When you are telling the truth you feel that in your heart, you show it with your gesture then you say it. Feel - Show - Say. He said,"I never," as he slowly raised his finger making it look staged.
Bill Clinton showed four clear deception cues:
1. "I never had" rather than the more natural contraction I didn’t. Liars like to emphasize the not or never
2. His finger is crooked rather than straight showing a lack of his own conviction
3. He is pointing one way and looking another a lack of congruence in his thoughts and actions
4. Depersonalization saying "she" then self correcting to say Monica's name.
George Bush
He uses the political coached version of the gesture to emphasize his conviction. Notice the point is up to heaven rather than out and the cadence with the words.
Nixon
His point goes down and his volume fades out also showing he is lying and lacks conviction in his words.
He doesn’t use it on the, “I’m not a crook” statement he uses it to say "he never made money in office."
Gary Condit
Scary body language! I counted over 40 deception cues in his famous Connie Chung interview. He shows his anger by not only shooting Connie Chung but slicing her in a sword gesture and symbolically strangling her.

Powerful Presentation Body Language Translated into Spanish Poderoso Lenguaje Corporal para Presentaciones
Allà comencé a sonreÃr.

Face to Face Conversations,The Benefit of Meaningful Conversations.
After reading an interesting article about Sean Penn living in a pup tent in Haiti with only one change of clothes, I asked the group, "When, if ever, have you lived with very little in terms of possessions?" "How did you feel?"
I blogged the other day about the new research on the benefits of meaningful conversations and I certainly experienced that benefit last night.
